Description
This intro to quilting class is designed specifically for adults who appreciate a scrappy aesthetic and a meditative pace.
Together, we will build the classic Oh My Stars quilt. Along the way, you will master the brilliant, beginner-friendly stitch-and-flip technique, which is a straightforward method that gives you easy star points without tricky math or complicated cutting. At the end of the series, you’ll leave with a cozy quilt top you are incredibly proud of.
Feel free to arrive anytime between 5:30–6:00 PM. This is a flexible arrival window designed to give everyone time to settle in, get their sewing space set up, and connect with fellow quilters. If you arrive early, you’re welcome to continue working on blocks from the previous week or get a head start on preparing materials.
No prior quilting experience required, just your creative energy!
What’s Included
10 Hours of Studio Time: Four 2.5-hour evening sessions to focus entirely on your craft without home distractions.
Expert Guidance: Step-by-step, patient instruction through every layout, cutting, and piecing stage.
Full Tool Access: Full use of our premium studio design walls, oversized cutting mats, rulers, and irons.
- Fabric & Materials: For this project, you will need to bring your own background fabric and star center fabric (a detailed yardage guide will be emailed prior to class). For the star points, you are welcome to bring your own coordinated fabrics, or you can dive right into our awesome studio scrap collection to curate a unique, scrappy look!
- What to Bring & Machine Rentals: Please bring your own sewing machine in good working order, along with its power cord, foot pedal, and thread. If you don’t have one, you can request to rent a studio machine for a $10 fee per class. Machines are limited, so please reserve yours at registration.
- Welcome to the Slipper Studio! Leave your street shoes at the door. Bring your favorite slippers (or house shoes), get cozy, and join us for some low-pressure, meditative making.
